Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how manbrief (the “App”) handles your personal data. The data controller is Karol Knapik, based in Poland (the “we”, “us”). If you have any questions, contact us at support@manbrief.org.

We designed the App to collect as little data as possible. We do not use advertising, analytics, or cross-app tracking, and we do not sell your data.

1. What data we collect

• Account data — when you create an account: your email address, your name, and a password (stored securely in hashed form by our authentication provider).
• In-app activity linked to your account — your favorites, your ratings, which summaries you marked as read, and your subscription/premium status.
• Stored only on your device — your reading progress and app settings (theme, font size). This information stays on your device and is not sent to our servers.

You can browse the App as a guest, without an account. In that case we do not collect account data.

2. How we use your data

• To create and maintain your account and let you sign in.
• To save and sync your favorites, ratings, and read status across your sessions.
• To provide access to content (including premium content, if you subscribe).
• To respond to your questions and support requests.

3. Legal basis (GDPR)

We process your data to perform our contract with you — providing the App and your account (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR) — and, where relevant, based on our legitimate interest in keeping the App secure and functional (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). Where we ask for your consent, processing is based on that consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR).

4. Who we share data with

We do not sell your data and share it only with service providers that help us run the App:

• Supabase — provides authentication and database hosting for your account data (email, name, favorites, ratings, read status, premium status).
• Apple / Google — distribute the App and, if you make a purchase, process that purchase through their app stores. Billing details are handled by the store, not by us.

These providers process data on our behalf under their own security and data-protection terms. Some may process data outside the European Economic Area, in which case appropriate safeguards (such as Standard Contractual Clauses) apply.

5. How long we keep your data

We keep your account data for as long as your account exists. If you delete your account or ask us to delete your data, we remove it, except where we must keep certain records to comply with the law. On-device data is removed when you delete the App or clear its data.

6. Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to:

• access your data and receive a copy of it;
• correct inaccurate data;
• delete your data (“right to be forgotten”);
• restrict or object to certain processing;
• data portability;
• withdraw consent at any time, where processing is based on consent.

To exercise any of these rights, email support@manbrief.org. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Polish supervisory authority — the President of the Personal Data Protection Office (Prezes Urzędu Ochrony Danych Osobowych, UODO).

7. Children

The App is intended for adult users and is not directed to children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us and we will delete it.

8. Security

Data is transmitted over encrypted connections, and passwords are stored in hashed form by our authentication provider. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your data.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the “Last updated” date above. Significant changes will be communicated within the App where appropriate.
